Mercury turns retrograde
at least three times a year. Each Mercury
retrograde period lasts about three weeks. At these times, our activities seem to move
backwards as well. It's hard to get plans going in forward motion, as
there can be many cancellations and false starts. And
miscommunications will be evident everywhere.
This is not the time to make major decisions or sign
contracts, because there is a very good chance that you or the other party will change
your mind later. Typos and costly mistakes are also very likely. If you cannot avoid it, then try to sign agreements on a contingency
basis and plan to revisit and finalize the agreement when Mercury is direct.
Plans and projects, especially previously planned meetings and appointments,
are subject to delays,
last-minute postponements, or mix-ups. Repairs and check-ups made now may have to be
repeated or re-evaluated after Mercury goes direct.
Do not purchase anything associated
with transportation or communication while Mercury is retrograde, such as a car,
computer, telephone, tape recorder, or a TV. These purchases will most
likely be plagued with malfunctions and have to be replaced
There can be benefits to
the Mercury
retrograde period. Often mistakes that were made earlier are found and corrected when
Mercury is retrograde. It's said to favor doing something over again, so
it's a good time to re-negotiate, re-establish, revamp, revise, review and revisit.
It favors
finishing work that was previously started, returning to complete something
left undone, and travel if the
trip was previously cancelled.
It's a good time to persuade others to reconsider
their earlier decisions, because people often change their minds more easily when Mercury is retrograde.
If Mercury changes signs during the
retrograde period, it can be an even more likely time for disruptive changes.
