Mars turns retrograde about every two years for a period of approximately two and a half months. It can be a
time of mechanical breakdowns and disruptive aggression.
The Mars retrograde transit is
excellent for starting (re-starting) a project that was previously left unfinished; but
it’s a poor time to start something completely new.
Ancient astrologers felt that
whoever started a war when Mars was retrograde would lose, and this has held up well
throughout history. They also felt that this was not a good time to start a sexual
relationship.
The Mars retrograde period is not a good time to purchase anything
ruled by Mars, which would be items with engines such as cars or airplanes.
But problems can occur with anything containing mechanical components.
Even computers, which in general
are ruled by Mercury, often develop hardware problems when Mars is
retrograde. And, some of the most virulent computer viruses occur at these
times.
