EFT is the most popular form of the new rapidly developing Meridian Energy
Therapies, called "METs" for short. The first MET --
Thought Field Therapy -- was developed by Dr. Roger Callahan in the
early 1980s.
METs work on the meridian system of the body like
acupuncture. But instead of using needles, METs balance the meridians
through gentle tapping while focusing the mind on the issue to be
healed.
EFT, which is short for "Emotional Freedom
Technique," was created by Gary Craig, a Stanford engineer with an
interest in psychotherapy. He set out to simplify the MET process -- early
METs contained complicated individualized algorithms -- and to make it
accessible for everyone.
He was extremely successful. EFT is simple, easy to
learn and can be self-applied. It often works when nothing else will. It's
usually rapid, long lasting and gentle. And best of all, there are no
drugs or equipment involved.
Amazingly, in a very high percentage of cases, EFT brings about permanent healing for emotional and physical issues -- even lifelong problems -- in only a few minutes.
It has also been used very successfully to enhance athletics, job
performance and prosperity issues.
Gary's motto is "Try it on everything!" As
for myself, I haven't found anything that hasn't been improved with EFT.
I'm currently working with clients using EFT
for weight loss, and it has been very successful. One client's
comment was, "This is the most effortless and fun thing I've ever
done to lose weight!" She lost 4 lbs. the first week -- WITHOUT
limiting her diet, and she no longer craves the chocolate she "used
to live for."
We began by identifying the issues that were
underlying her weight gain, which for her had to do with poor self-esteem
and problems at work. Using EFT, we successfully cleared their negative
charge in her energy system. Then we used EFT to end her chocolate
cravings and rev up her metabolism.
After the first session, she told me that she hadn't
had so much physical energy in years. She was even de-cluttering her house
after having procrastinated about it for a very long time. A wonderful
byproduct of EFT is that when the negative things stuck in the body's
energy system are cleared, the physical body has a lot more energy to
use.
Other issues I've successfully used EFT for are
irritable bowel syndrome, knee pain, sleep problems, anxiety attacks,
breathing issues and all sorts of emotional pain.

little coaching in addition to the handout in order to get the hang of it.
I can usually teach clients to do it successfully in less than 10 minutes,
even over the phone. The steps are so simple that even a child can do it.
To get the best results, you may need help finding
your key underlying issues to tap on. Working with a skilled practitioner
initially can really jumpstart the process. I offer a free 20-minute get
acquainted phone session. If you want to learn EFT during that time, I'd
be happy to teach you. Contact
me to make an appointment. Once you learn EFT, you'll have a powerful
tool that can transform and empower your life!

Gary offers his 79-page EFT manual free to download, and there's a vast
archive of EFT resources and support for all sorts of emotional and
physical issues. Another good source of information on EFT and other METs
is www.theAMT.com, which is maintained

EFT in the Seattle Post-Intelligencer appears here.
